What we check, and what we refuse to claim

  • Manual before marketing

    Battery figures come from the maker's own tables, with the usage assumptions behind them. A number we cannot trace to a document is removed, not guessed.

  • Sapphire only when named

    If a maker does not name the lens material, we do not call it sapphire. The Garmin Instinct is the example; the fenix is named and flagged.

  • A published rubric

    Every score is a weighted sum you can recompute: power and materials carry half of it. The weights are on How We Rate.

  • No fake testing, no stale prices

    Every pick is labeled “Researched,” never “tested.” Prices appear only when they're live and dated.
